Chronic Heart Failure

Around 900,000 people in the UK today suffer from heart failure. An almost equal number have damaged hearts. In both cases severity increases with age. The risk of heart failure is higher in men than it is in women in all age groups. However, there are more women than men with heart failure due to population demographics in the UK.

World Healing Day

Imaging Techniques Could Support Doctors Treating Heart Patients
Researchers in Ottawa, Canada believe that using an imaging technique which involves combining Position Emission Tomography (PET) with the imaging agent florodeoxyglucose (FDG) could help to decide whether a patient could benefit from a stent or a bypass surgery. Doctors would be able to confidently determine whether patients suffering from heart failure could see their condition improved.

Reducing Risk at Patient Handover
