According to a study published in the July edition of Health Affairs, diabetic and hypertensive patients who exchanged emails with their physicians benefited from healthier outcomes.
Data from 35,423 patients with diabetes, hypertension or both was examined. After two months of examining the data collected, it was concluded that there was a statistically significant improvement in effectiveness in care as measured by the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS). The authors of the study noted that "the use of e-mail was associated with an improvement of 2.0-6.5 percentage points in performance on other HEDIS measures such as glycemic (HbA1c), cholesterol, and blood pressure screening and control." At RioMed, we believe that patient communication is at the centre of achieving optimal patient care. For this reason, Cellma possesses the full capability to facilitate patient communication; thus improving the safety, efficiency and quality of your service. Apart from automatically generating letters that can be printed for distribution, or stored for emailing; Cellma can also send or receive text messages or emails to/from patients reminding them of follow up appointments. This not only improves the quality of patients’ care by ensuring that they follow up on their treatments on time, but, it also offers financial benefits to healthcare professionals, by reducing the number of DNAs and reducing the administrative burden to the service allowing for more quality time with the patients.
