World Blood Donor Day

The World Health Organization (WHO) has pronounced June 14th World Blood Donor Day. The 2010 global campaign focuses on young donors, with the slogan “New Blood for the New World”. In the hopes of obtaining the safest blood possible for use wherever it is needed, a new generation of voluntary unpaid young blood donors is being motivated to give blood.

With younger persons fueling the blood bank, the long-term safety and quality of a country’s blood supply is improved. Safe and healthy lifestyles are also encouraged. Young persons who are unable to give blood for any reason, can still make a positive contribution by offering to serve as advocates.

Understanding the importance to improving healthcare for future generations, we at RioMed lend our full support to this venture.
