On April 19th, we celebrate World Liver Day to raise awareness about the second largest and most complex organ in our body, the liver.
This year’s theme is, “Be vigilant, get regular liver check-ups, and prevent fatty liver diseases” –and it couldn’t be more fitting. It focuses on the proactive approach we must take towards our liver health. By scheduling regular check-ups, we detect possible issues early and take vital steps to prevent them from escalating into serious conditions.

While minimal scarring may not have a big impact on your life, cirrhosis, a more severe form of scarring, can. The good news is that detecting NASH cirrhosis early on can offer a positive outlook, giving you an additional 10-15 years of life. However, if diagnosis occurs late or complications like fluid buildup or internal bleeding arise, life expectancy can be reduced to 3-5 years. But don’t worry.
